All thise posts about people acidentally deleting a char + and rare items on them is ok... but its not really selfe ownage... its more like forgetfullness + a general D'OH factor.

My worst ingame from of self ownage was using Aura of displacement to catch up to an assassin (gettign him in the end and feelign really happy about myself)... getting int oa fight with a derv a little later and seeing I was geting owned, cancling aura... where the owning really started.

I found out the recal area was bang smack in the middle of the oposing mob regrouping and charging up between battles... all ready for a surprized and hapless N/A with low health popping up in the middle of them.... a couple seconds later I was resing and wondering wth had happened.

Since the thread title doesn't specify in game, a small story which broke most of my guild.

I was in Starbucks/Borders with 2 friends doing some college work. Lots of Alpha, beta, gamma abbrevs. So my friend, in relation to what I do NOT know, says "Dude this isn't hard like Kama Sutra!" to which my other friend replies "What's that? A greek letter?"

Stunned at his ignorance, I lead him to the sex-book section of Borders, where I find "The Pop-up Guide to Kama Sutra". I'm, to his amusement, showing him what it is using the pop-up features of the books when my GOD DAM PHYSICS TEACHER WALKS PAST.

Now I don't usually HAVE Physics that day, and it was my final day in college for a week (Half-term holiday) but I HAD TO GO AND SEE HER to find out homework I had missed being ill the previous day. She took one look at me and burst into laughter.

My worst self ownage was Canthan New years Festival.

I happened to be in Shing Jea when one of the first mini-pigs was opened.
I of course, am VERY excited about the new gold mini-pet.

I look at wiki and wiki claims that the new mini-pig will be just as rare as the mini-Shiro or mini-Rurik. At this time those two minis went for about 60-80k.

My old guild leader pmed me telling me that she had found someone willing to sell their (one of the first) mini-pigs for a mere 70k and that she had talked him down from 80k.

I RUSH down to Shing Jea leaping at the chance to be one of the first mini-pig owners. I gladly pay the 70k and am for a very short while VERY happy with my purchase.

And then I begin to hear in all-chat,
"I HAVE A MINI PIG!"
"I HAVE ONE TOO"
"ME TOO!"


Wiki changed the page about the mini-pig shortly after telling the truth about their rarity.

Me = pwned

Wasn't so much the money. 70k isn't all that much, but considering that I paid it for something people can't even give away anymore... it's kinda funny.

Trying to solo UW with my necro, cliking on sarah to see what she had to say, then forgetting to click back on myself and therefore casting all my bonds onto her...

5 ar vs an aatax=400+ damage and 1 hit KO!!!

I bought myself a copy of Eye of the North. Man did I own myself. It was the worst game I have ever played. I should have waited for UT3 or CoD4.

getting into a pug and forgetting i had my 55 armor was on but my skill bar was set for regular wondering why it took one shot to kill me then having a group that only carried rebirth and not being able to get rezzed but the darn monk tried to about 500 times while not healing the party. sad fact whole party whipped not too far in

When I went to log back in, the game would load, then boot me. Took me 4 weeks over something that wouldnt have counted as a death. And Arena.net never really fixed it. I found the workaround (Download all files).
Found that kinda funny as that kinda happens to me now and again i just zone out and get annoyed later^^

Today I got an R9 Darkwing Defender strength doing dungeons in GWEN with the guild. And I didn't know people paid a lot for these so I sold it to the merchant.

Then on another dungeon I got another, same stats. Sold it here on Guru just now for 100k so that's good. But I coulda done that twice! Self pwned.

An ele sword dropped for me from a Destroyer chest. Of course I know about these so the merchant won't even see it.

once, i was reduced to about 20 hp in my shield set by a BA ranger. seeing that poison was still active, i tried to mend touch myself... except my energy was zero since i was trying to fight an esurge mesmer a little while ago, and my shield set is -5 energy.

so what did i do? i swapped back to my bow, and promptly died, because in doing so chopped off 30 hp.

That reminds me of when people still did FFF runs manually and I had weapon sets for F1 thru F4. There was a few times when I switched wrongly and used the grim cesta prematurely and died before reaching my spot.

Kills boss to cap his elite.

"I'm using Signet of..... wait, I don't have the sig....."

Goes to town to buy Signet of Capture.

Goes back and kills the boss to cap his elite.

"I'm using Signet of.... are you kidding me? I forgot to equip the sig..."

Goes back to town and equips the sig. Looks at the bar several times to ensure I got the sig.

Goes back and kills the boss to cap his elite.

"I'm using Signet of Capture."

......Quietly looks at the empty menu that pops up because I forgot to change to the correct 2ndary.

I lol'd because I've done that. When I changed the secondary prof I also forgot to redistrubute my attribute points so I had about 50-60 DP when I got to him and coulsn't find out why! XP

Did that signet of capture thing once. that annoyed me. Later that day someone I was capping in Perdition Rock did the same thing.

Just the other day I merched an Onyx gem that I got from a hidden chest in bogroot. The guildie with me got 150 gold from that same chest. Well, so did I. :\

first started playing, first day, bought 10 iron ingots at merchant, only it gave me 1k. Kept doing it, noticed it was giving me money rather than me paying for it, only did it twice, thinking there was something wrong I ran away.

Later found out that they didnt rollback because not many people knew about the glitch and only a handfull of people made over 100k off of it.

Owned.
