Solo + Henchies GW Newbie Thoughts/Questions?

The plan is to complete all of Prof, Fact, and Night one day with my W/Mo and Henchies whenever needed.

Currently I am still Pre-Searing and I'm using a Hammer. I know of only one quest so far requiring a PC companion to open a gate at the Wall. Of course I don't have to do that quest. I'll have to do whatever is necessary at times I know.

With few exceptions will this be possible?

It is way to soon to work out my Build. Currently I'm using the Hammer. Is it possible to use that weapon throughout the games or are there circumstances where changing to Sword and Shield will be necessary?

So far at level 7 there is only one baddie that just kills me--a River Skate Brood that fires heavy deadly magic. It is located inside a cave area entered from a river near a farm community southeast of Ashford Abbey in Lakeside County Pre-Searing. Is this creature and magic a perfect example of why a sword/shield combo beats a hammer? How do I block the spell damage? Or is this creature and cave just one of those things you are better off ignoring?

You can't complete all three in one day with heroes/hench, you can't even do it with a dedicated group of friends.

Since you're in Prophecies, you'll have to ascend, you'll need to do the quests to get the last 30 attribute points, you won't get heroes until you're in LA.. etc etc

Yes, you can use a hammer until you finish Nightfall, but having different builds is also nice.

That lvl 7 skale uses air magic IIRC, a shield increases your physical armor, not elemental. There are insignias in NF that increase your elemental armor, there are spells that do the same as well.

Ok what i think your asking is can I complete all the guildwars games on my own ??

My answer for most missions quests yes you can, althouhg its usually much harder

My question, why buy a mmorpg if you dont want to play with others, the whole point of theses games is to play with others thats what makes them so much fun.

oh and about the hammer although many people dont like hammers you can use what ever weapon you like to complete the game, its all about the team your in its never 1 charecter that will mean your going to complete the mission or not. saying that some charecters play bigger roles than others and a warriors main role is to stand around and get hit and take as much of the damage as he can, he is not the main damage dealer in the team

another question jumps to mind what has this post got to do with farming?

As for shields, it's just a guess, but it's usually indicated if it affects elemental as well.

Are you going through every single misison or getting ran to Thunderhead Keep, Desert areas, etc? If you are going through every mission, then I'm pretty sure thats impossible. Most jungle missions are an hour and maybe even some change. If you ask me, the real question is can it be beat in 2-3 days.

It's possible to beat prophicies in one day, and possibly half of another campaign.. But to do this, it requires you play NON-STOP all day long, and play for the full 24 hours.

It's impossible to beat all 3 campaigns in one day...

Oh good grief! No, no...not in "one day"...I menat "one day" as in "one day in the future", which for me translates into more like in six months!

I'm not sure why someone suggested I post in Farming either, except there is a sticky at the top concerning Solo Characters. Except, although I said solo I likely will be using henchies wherever it will make things easier.

The WHOLE basic point of this is to be as sure as I can starting off that I will be able to finish the whole game "one day in the future" and not at some point come up against a brick wall. I already know and accept that there may be certain points where my CP even with hench is stuck and sick and tired of trying a mission over and over and over again to complete. I think I have heard of ways to get through difficult parts like this though I haven't a clue at this point how.

I'm playing Guild Wars because it is a neat Diablo-like (and much more) RPG. The fact that it is MMO but still offers a method largely where an individual can play it is why I'm trying.

My first time through pre-searing when I encountered this River Skate Brood (that does not show up in GuruWiki) I defeated at some point but my character was using a sword and shield at the time. Swords work faster then hammers which makes me think I should try a run on it with a sword and shield but I haven't done that yet.

The guy who helped me through the Wall Quest where one person has to open the gate while another goes through went so fast and we were done I didn't have a chance to smell the flowers. This is exactly why I would rather use Henchies then real people and why I haven't been a MMORPG fan and why I am very newbie now still. Heck, I didn't even understand how he joined me or I joined him that moment and still don't.

All I have read seems to suggest that using Henchmen works better more often then not then a bunch of inexperienced people. And all I would do in an experienced Guild right now is run after everyone trying to keep up. I want to avoid that as much as possible. In the case of this Wall Quest I would like to find someone who will open the gate and enter but just wait for me to do the mission--then we can do it again and I'll reciprocate or help someone else but catching and discussing is slow.

My next problem is getting this blasted X1900XTX to work properly like it was during my first try in GW. Now the graphics keep breaking up and I don't know why...and I don't know why it has changed even unless playing Gothic 3 stressed and wrecked the card?

One of my questions in the original OP in another forum here was where posting GW solo + hench questions would be most appropriate? That is still the question here if Farming isn't appropriate at all. Maybe a moderator can come alone and move this thread to the best location?

Ok well I see your point about playing on your own and although i don't agree, I love playing with others but if thats what u want then i cant think of another mission where u need another player but the over the wall quest your talking about.

but for that quest have you tried flaging your hench at the wall then open the gate and flag your hench through the wall ? does this work? im not sure you can go through a portal by sending your hench through but if you can then looks like you will never need to put up with others spoiling your quests

Witte Was has quite a few solo tour guides here. So far I think he's done most of Prophecies and the first part of Cantha is up too.. is this what you're after?

I suggest playing nightfall first and grabbing the heros that you like to use - they make the other two campaigns much, much, much easier.

There are some missions that you likely can't complete without certain skills (light of deliverance), so you'll need to learn those with your character, or rely on someone else. But, again, does that even make sense? Once you've gotten someway through prophecies, consider joining a guild.
