Asia region internet disruption

Hey fellas, just wondering if the Wintersday hat give-out could be extended a bit further into January to accommodate those in Asia?

As many of you may have read online, an undersea earthquake near Taiwan basically knocked out the data cable allowing us in Asia access to the net and mainly GW.

I'm playing from Malaysia so I can tell you most assuredly that we're completely cut off from GW. We hear the estimated time of repairing the cables is a few weeks or so. I think Australia, Singapore, India, and any other countries using the Taiwan cable are out.

Only way I can even log on to msn.com or this webpage is through a temporary proxy some dude set up.

I'm in Thailand and for some reasons I can browse this forum today, but not many other websites (and no GW). I've read about the Taiwan cable earlier this morning but......I didn't think it would take THAT long to fix the stuff...

Singapore still has connection, but it's very slow and I've been erroring out quite alot, as well as having trouble accessing a number of sites.

Ah so is this to blame for my 30,000 ping and 1fps performance in GW for no reason? Oh well at least CS:S works.

Thats explain why I got very slow connection for playing Internet.

I've still got connection to GWO/Guru/Wiki, and had connection to GW itself for a few hours earlier, but it seems to have petered out and I'm currently unable to log in (err=058)

I am in Singapore, and I am having some very slow connection here(due to the incident), and ocassionally disconnection. (Singapore is in asia for some who don't know)

Hope that arenanet can look into the situation to extend the event afew days longer for asian players here(if the situation shld drag beyond). Hope that everything will be up soon.

Earlier today I kept getting Error 058's as well.

Right now a few hours later I am able to get into the Character selection screen after some waiting but actually entering the game? However the loading to get into an ingame area is taking forever.

yup...my charater seems retarted (take bout 5 sec to exe my commands) n drunk (keeps spinning) n death by "err 7 / 58" always

Starhub here... even my web browsing was affected...

In Singapore, currently the internet traffic seems to be rerouted and stable at the moment but was experiencing terrible lag upwards of 10-30k ping rates making the game unplayable at times on both 27th and 28th nights.

Some normality seems to have been restored and hopefully well enough to log in and participate during the main event itself on the 1st Jan.

I'm in Philippines and I can connect to GW but it lags a lot. The local online gaming here are just fine. Hoping they can fix this fast

there are tons of lags everywhere in GW right now.....not sure why, I am in the usa and had ping times of 10,000ms.....yeah, unplayable.

lol. watch the entire GW economy collapse as chinese farmers can no longer do what they're best at

Singapore here. My ping earlier just hit a lovely 132114 ms. Awesome!

But yeah, connection right now in some parts of Asia is very iffy, at best. >_<

Makes ya wonder whose idea it was to put the cable there huh?

Probably someone who thought floating it on top was a pretty dumb idea.

Malaysia is still more or less incapacitated. I can get as far as Character log in but places like Kamadan seem to enjoy "loading 0 files" and error 7-ing as soon as the game commences.

No new news from our ISP here since the 27th.

I doubt Anet will postpone the finale, I mean they have already been generous with the new Hat NPC and making the avatars appear 9 times every 3 hours meaning the event will last over a day. I guess you can ask a trusted friend overseas to log in for you and get u a hat
