Why is it that people NEVER type /resign no matter how many times you ask them too and instead just LEAVE.

Its worse when they say "meet you back at city" and your saying "just type /resign FFS".

Its like trying to bleed a stone to get people to use it.

Are people not aware what it is?

Do they think its some trick?

USE RESIGN!!!!!

[update]

Some people have said that people arent away of the code /resign.

But I wasnt aware of it until someone mentioned in a mission and I asked. I simply asked!!!!

From then on, ive used it. Ive understood it.

Its like word of mouth. The best way to tell people about something... provided they listen.

Also some have said it didnt work before nightfall was released.

I used it countless times in factions before Nightfall and it worked fine.

I dont mind if someone asks "what does that do" or "how do i resign".

Its those who blatenly dont listen to you.

You can stand there saying "please resign", "please type resign", "for the love of god type /resign" or worse as you get more fustrated.

Then some moron just leaves. And your all "WTF"!

I understand if they dont like the group then fine. But they say "restart" and just leave... its moronic.

Probably a number of reasons:
  • /resign was a new command, added some time after the Factions quickref was printed, and since a lot of idiots don't seem to understand "check the website", they haven't read the notes on the updates page
  • The Nightfall quickref, I beleive, lists it, but it doesn't explain its purpose or function
  • When it was first implemented, it was wonky. At first it would only work in Missions, and iirc it didn't even work in PvP
  • Telling people to use /resign is a pain because even after 5 months of play, they're still too thick to understand where to bang it in.

ok the only reference to /resign I could find in the update notes was back in April:

Introduced a new command: /resign. This command allows a team to forfeit a mission as a group. All party members must type "/resign" for it to take effect.

Anyone care to explain how this command has changed and what it's practical use is?

/doh

Its practical use is the ability to quit a mission as a party. This way the whole party, or what's left of it, can jump back to the last oupost, in the same district, while remaning in the party.

Beats splitting up and trying to reform.

yeah the 'trying to reform' is whats crucial here.
id guess that if you need to use the /resign command you sometimes would like to look for another party.

Before NightFall came out, I cannot remember one time where /resign actually worked, either in missions or just out questing. Maybe people think it's still bugged. I know I did until a few days ago.

Lotsa people ignore team chat a lot of the time unfortunately. If this is not the case, it's probably cuz they went afk.

My guildmates are hooked on the /resign command, especially when farming, or skill hunting. Example: We decide to cap all the skills in a certain area. Go out, kill first boss. /resign, pop back in town. Repeat until finished. It's always workd well for us.

While I'm sure some people simply aren't aware of the command, I suspect that most of the people doing this are simply too stupid to follow directions.

This is one of the best uses for it imo. /resign works out in normal areas and pops you back into the last town you were in. Great if you screw up a quest or forget keys/skills/etc.

/resign = GOOD!

Just about every time I'm in a pug that needs to resign, someone says,"how do I resign?" Very frustrating.

Even if you don't know the command, it's not hard to guess that "XXX has resigned" was triggered by the command /resign, as "XXX is laughing heartilly" was triggered by the command /laugh...

I agree with Sir Mad, but I was feeling too nice to come out and say it.

The bottom line is that these people are morons, which is the answer the OP wants to hear anyway.

Many don't know about it. It's not included in any tutorial or mentioned anywhere. Most will not read manuals or own guides. Only a small portion of players knows what patch notes or where to find them.

Some simply forget.

Some don't want to rejoin the group in the first place.

But on the up side, it's catching on, especially in masters groups. Makes things go much faster.

I think it has more to do with people thinking it's still busted.

Heck, I didn't know they fixed it till now!

Then you must have only tried a couple of times after they implemented the command and never tried it again. It was bugged for a bit, and they fixed it. My friends and I used the command effectively long before NF was released.
