Need help on a build I want to try.

I was thinking of an interesting ranger build.
R/ME
Haven't figured out the attribute allocation yet.
Skills would be the following-
Poison Arrow
Ignite Arrow's (Barbed Arrow's when Nightfall comes out)
Dual Shot (for the extra damage from Ignite Arrows)
Savage Shot
Favorable Winds
Troll Unguent
Epidemic (to spread the poison)
Rez signet

Any help or CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would be useful. Thanks.

I don't think you really need epidemic since Poison Arrow can be spammed. Where you're using this would be helpful.

I know that Poison Arrow can be highly spammed, but in the time and energy it would take to spam it on multiple tartgets, assuming they are adjacent to the original target, you can use Epidemic for spreading it faster and then hit the original target with a new Poison Arrow.

Epidemic has a very very small Area of Effect, and for the energy you spend to infect a few baddies, you might as well do a P. arrow spam. It's really not worth running on a mesmer primary let alone a ranger. If you were wanting to spread degen, then as it was mentioned, just tabing through attacking targets is best. Personally I prefer Apply poison, but mileage seems to vary amongst the Ranger community.

Ignite causes AoE scatter. So if you were aware and are bringing Ignite to scatter mobs for some reason thats fine, but usually Poison Arrow is teamed with Kindle (my other least favorite Ranger skill). Poison Arrow + kindle is a solid build for a good chunk of the game.

Hmmmm. Valid points there. In that case, I'll wait untill Nightfall and get Barbed Arrows. Combo that with Poison Arrow and Pestilence and my thought's of a 'Poisoned Blood' build can be interesting. Maybe keep myself as R/W and use Frenzy for faster arrows as well.

I ran the "Barbed Arrows prep + Posion Arrow" combo during the preview to mixed results. The degen was real nice but the 15E for 18 secs of Barbed was not to my liking. I think Iwas at 9 expertise at the time though, can not remember.

I know I need a way to work Pin-Down into the deal to keep people from fleeing to heal so they would be stuck while I INT them from healing.

I dunno maybe my Expertise was at 12, but I did not have enough in WS, either way I had been hoping for a "Bleeding" prep and was happy to get it, it needs much tweeking though.

And why "Frenzy" when you can "Lightning Reflexes" and not have to spread att points.

Um, frenzy doesn't require any attribute points, it's warrior no attribute.

Before you take Barbed Arrows in a build... Take it and Apply Poison, hold them up next to each other, and look at them really close. Barbed Arrow's really needs some tweaking.

Thanks for the info on "Frenzy" I've never used it, not fond of the "Double Damage" Idea.

Still why take double damge when you canget the same effect with speed and block attacks.

I also used to go with the poison arrow + epidemic, but soon I realized that the area of effect was to low and it was only on some occasions that epidemic proved it´s worth. I could actually only use it with succes if for example a warrior was tanking, but at the rate that most warriors + support charaters could eliminate the enemy, epidemic just was not worth it.

...these days I go with kindle + poison, spam it on a few enemies and when health reaches below 50% spam needling shot...it really can work wonders

Maybe is you used melandru's arrows with poisonous bite to get your bleeding and poison? Just a thought.
