Quick thought before you all go off and do chest runs...

This event isn't actually being geared for the runner. With the increase in key drops, the intent is for groups to kill their ways to chests for the free keys.

Hmm... anyone planning on doing any key farming?

No key farming for me. The only keys I've ever had drop in Factions were on noob island. I'm buying mine - therefore running is a valid option.

I can count the key's I've had drop in Factions on 1 hand. 2 Luxon, 1 Kurzick, 3 Canthan.

The money that you save on farming keys, your wasting in real life time.

Farming something that you can buy for so little is a lot of wasted time. I'd rather pay in-game money for a key, and then maybe go out and wire an outside light with the time i saved by not farming and earn some real life money.

I think this event is almost like a gold sink since peoples are drawn to the fact that you might get double-rare drops from all the Cantha Chests.

Go figure...there's already people selling keys in bulk. Quick search of the internet and, sure enough, there are sites selling keys for real money. For my part, I'm taking screenshots and reporting anyone selling bulk amounts of keys in hopes they get their account banned. Let Anet sort it out, but how likely is it that someone has farmed 500 keys to sell for an event that was just announced less than a week ago.

Who's going to farm 500 keys? The people who own a town pay 480/key and sell them in bulk @500/key.

Don't have enough money to buy keys to farm.. that and I really dislike buying/selling (WTS-WTB). If I could it would be to get better weapons for my character or get the mods off them to make my own weapons.

I would not put it past Anet to x2 treasure drops and *slightly* increase key drops to remove gold from the market (for people to buy more keys). Either way the flood of perfect mods and golds should make prices cheaper.. at least for a short time anyway.

It doesn't say pda anywhere.

I said this in a thread about the same topic over in the farming forums:

1. Perfect gold drops are a small proportion of the gold chest drops. (Anecdotal evidence suggests it's something like 2% or less of all drops).

2. The market for golds will only drop if the supply of items was already outstripping the number of potential buyers. If it wasn't or wasn't close to that then there will be no drop.

3. This is a gold sink.

Agreed, spent 20k on keys so far and the best i got was a air magic +1 20%, staff mod, loads of crap gold staffs though.. just like i always use to get, now i just have twice as many

Lol, nice one. But back on topic, yes, this is just a gold sink and I'm not going to do much farming over this event, like many have said, perfect gold drops = almost never.
