The idea is this, to have the ablity to call out someone in town/outpost out for a arena duel.
Like the trade button, you would have an new button that would ask a person for a duel. The initiator will able to choose between Single Duel or Team Duel*. The one being ask can choose to accept or not (much like the trade)
For single Duel, it will be 1v1 (I believe we will get this in CH3), while for Team Duel, will be 4v4 with your current party memeber. If not enough, than will either give you random lv20 henchmen, or pick from the random arena.
Once both agree, and click ready, the two player/team will be transported to a Arena (either new one for this purpose, or just the exisiting ones), where they can battle it out.
To avoid abuse, player will earn no exp or faction in such duel battle. (or to be more evil, can have the looser loose faction point...)
When one team won, the battle end. Will give the option to Rematch, or return to outpost.

why not ask AN to bring back the attack a teammate bug?
I could imagine the one vs. one thing working ok, but anything beyond that shouldn't, because the 2 or 3 requesting the fight are going to work together and possably have that vent crap to help them... maybe AN could just mess with the scrimmage matches in the guild halls

personally i like the 1v1 idea.... some time you just need to shut people up.... but i think you should be able to choose from any one of you chars if you are the one BEING challenged. That way let's say some jerk wants to feel like a big man so he challenges my lvl 13 ranger to a dual.... only to find it is my lvl 20 w/mo, me/r, or ele/n he is now dealing with (rubs hands together). This way people would only challenge those they thought on thier own skill level.... cause if some other lvl 13 challenges me... i won't use my lvl 20... i'll just either use my lvl 13 or refuse the challenge... simple as that. But all in all... i like the idea of 1v1.

Yay, more stuff to randomly spam people with! As if hitting trade on a person 8 times over and over again isn't enough...

WoW may have some simple and effective and enjoyable ideas, but thats for WoW.
GW isnt WoW. WoW isnt GW.
The ideas of WoW wont neccessarily be effective or enjoyable or simple if applied to GW.
Its not one feature that makes the game, its the combination of features.
Copying one feature wont make it as good or better, and only worse, imo because that feature isnt going to be fully supported by the rest of the game because it was designed in an as afterthought.

I understand your point Lyra. But all I'm hintin at is if ANet would at least use some initiative to think of an idea that's similar but unique in its own specific way, or an entirely different and unique feature, then it would add more depth to the gameplay as long as it was kept within reason. Some concepts that the people on this forum have thought of many times before are not all out of bounds or beyond the abilities of ANet to implement. I mean if we can all think of them, why can't ANet be able to as well, then modify them to their liking? At least that way if they're happy with them they could implement them such that they're happy as are the players.
Wager is nice, but will have to keep that negotiate between player, and a honor system. Would be bad if it is enforced.
Viewable in town, and announcement? Hmm.. seem interesting, but that might seem a bit spaming in some case. Also keep in mind that you are not going to fight in-town, but be transported to a Arena.
